The Lord of the Rings Online Is Ten Years Old Today
Most people are shocked to discover that they share a birthday with Snoop Dogg or Miley Cyrus or perhaps even that one guy that appeared in a popular movie once 20 years ago that hasn't had a role since. Me? I share a birthday with The Lord of the Rings Online and today, the long-running MMORPG hit double digits, the big 10. The game has gone through a change in business model and a change of hands or two, but it has survived nonetheless and players are still adventuring through its digital recreation of Middle Earth to this day.
Standing Stone Games celebrated the momentous occasion by handing out rewards to all VIP subscribers on April 19th. Regardless of whether you are a subscriber or not, however, you have been granted fireworks to set off—hopefully at a respectable time, so as not to wake up your neighbors.
