Lord of the Rings Online Developer Dives Into Controversial Power Management Changes

A balance pass is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. Luckily for Lord of the Rings Online players, Standing Stone Games took time during its weekly Cord of the Rings livestream last Friday to talk about some of the major changes that will be made to power, mastery, and damage in Update 35.
According to Systems Designer Jesse “Vastin” King, power regeneration in the Lord of the Rings MMORPG “went out of whack” towards the late game due to fate calculation and high-stat items. He further revealed that they had always intended power management to be part of the challenge in longer fights but they don’t want it to be too much of an annoyance in day-to-day questing.
“Power’s kind of a non-thing any more. We’re trying to correct that. It’s a tricky mechanic to balance,” King explained. He dives deeper into the matter in the full livestream after the break. The said power management changes are now up for testing on the Bullroarer server if you want to check out them out ahead of their release.
