If you’ve been looking forward to visiting Umbar and the lands south of Gondor in Lord of the Rings Online next week, you’ll unfortunately have to put your travel plans on hold as Standing Stone Games delays the Corsair of Umbar expansion release by a week for more work.

“Umbar is not going to be released on November 1st,” executive producer Rob Ciccolini announced during this weekend’s Cord of the Rings livestream. “If everything goes well, we're more looking at a November 8th timeframe, but keep in mind, if the quality isn't there, I'll push it.”

Ciccolini said that they have a lot more work to do to make the expansion’s release as bug-free as possible, especially since they’ll be introducing new backend tech. He also admitted that some of the new zones aren’t ready for testing just yet, but they hope to have everything polished up and ready by November 8th. In the meantime, the expansion is still available for testing on the Bullroarer server until October 27th.

The executive producer also revealed ongoing work on a 64-bit client, a new launcher, and the promised 4K update. The team is also apparently looking into revamping VIP benefits based on how well Dungeons and Dragons Online’s revamped version is received. You’ll find the latest Cord of the Rings livestream episode below.
