Latest Blitzkrieg 3 Devlog Talks About Generals
The team behind aspiring MMORTS Blitzkrieg 3 are looking to change the way players play the game. The way it is set up currently, players are creating the same armies and using the same tactics against each other using "all-purpose armies." The way they intend to encourage players to specialize is through the use of generals, based on historical figures, detailed in their latest devlog.
The introduction of generals came with a large change to the way units and support are classified. They are now split into categories. The example given in the devlog is that "the Scout support, armoured cars and snipers were all assigned to the Scouting category." Each general gets one item from each category and they will each have their own specialization and upgrades for units under their command. The example given for this is that the General of Tanks has faster medium tanks.
The devlog also notes that players that aren't happy with the changes made to army composition, instead being content to keep the one they had already developed, can voice their concerns for further iterations of the generals system. The team are looking for feedback and intend to see the new system "improved to meet some of the community’s desires." They do note, however, that all units and support are available to all generals. The only difference is that using a specific unit might play to your general's weaknesses.
The devlog was also used show off new missile artillery units, one of which I have included above. For the rest, head to the link at the end of the first paragraph.
