Last Epoch’s Massive Multiplayer Update Is On Track For Release This Week

Last Epoch is getting a massive update this week that will not only introduce multiplayer but also touch up nearly every system in the Early access time-travelling action RPG. Over the past few days, developer Eleventh Hour has been hyping up the update’s launch with a daily dev blog series detailing all of the new features and improvements coming to the game.
Dubbed Convergence, the update will revamp all zones across Eterra with new scene assets, including new environment models, surfaces, and textures. Many of the enemies that players encounter in the game, especially during the earlier parts, will also be reworked with completely new models, attack patterns, and animations to make every fight a unique encounter.
The End of Time endgame zone will also be updated to set it apart from other zones and emphasize its otherworldly location. It will also be turned into one of the primary town hubs where players will be able to socialize and form parties.
“Given its importance in story, gameplay, and as the primary central hub in Last Epoch, […] we’ve gone through the End of Time, giving it the visual distinctness warranted by its importance,” said the devs. “We’ve kept the core of it while adding some more fractured elements with islands of reality in the environment to put on display the existence of this place outside of reality itself.”
Existing skills and summons will also be getting visual upgrades with new models and animations along with balance passes for several skill trees including Bone Golem and Rive. Players can also expect new sound effects and music as part of the team’s efforts to improve immersion whether you’re fighting one of the redesigned mobs, using one of the revamped skills, or just chilling with your friends in one of the player hubs.
Convergence is set to arrive on March 9th so we can probably expect a few more dev blogs in the lead up to its release. You’ll find the previously released ones on the Last Epoch official forums if you don’t mind a little light reading. You’ll also find the teaser trailer for the update right after the jump.
