Kritika Global’s Blockchain Relaunch Puts A Hefty Price Tag On Extra Character Slots

Last week, South Korean developer ALLM and Com2uS announced that they will once again be reviving Kritika Online, this time as a blockchain game called Kritika Global. The game launched just a few days later without NFT features, which will be incorporated sometime in the next few months. Unfortunately, the community didn’t take well to the relaunched game’s new monetization system even without the controversial play-to-earn mechanics.

MMO Fallout notes that players are only allowed to create one character with additional character slots locked behind a paywall. Additional character slots reportedly cost $50 each, which is pretty steep for an MMO that launched way back in 2014.

The restriction was presumably put in place to limit the rate in which players will earn NFTs and cryptocurrency when the feature comes out since having a bunch of alt characters farming could result in an oversupply of tokens which will inevitably lead to faster devaluation.

There doesn’t seem to be restrictions on creating a new account, however, which in theory will allow players to farm more tokens compared to using alt accounts. Of course, blockchain game developers have already begun implementing IP tagging to prevent this which we’ll likely see in Kritika Global once its blockchain features have been deployed.
