Session-based survival MMO Icarus: No Rescue kicks off its second weekend beta test a day earlier than scheduled to give players a bit more time to test out all the newly-added content and features. Players taking the upcoming game out for a test run this weekend will be treated to new base-destroying storms, a significantly larger map, hidden caves, new building pieces, more diverse animal threats, firearms, debuffs, and more talents.

“It’s a different game from even two weeks ago,” said RocketWerkz CEO Dean Hall. “[. . .] We've added so many new items, gameplay systems and balance changes in the last two weeks that we felt players would need more time to grapple with it.”

Hall, who is known for creating the zombie MMO DayZ, also touted the team’s ability to quickly introduce new content based on player feedback gathered from the first Beta Weekend back in August.

“We believe the key to making a great survival game is the ability to rapidly iterate,” he said. “We have spent a long time developing the architecture to support this, and this Beta Weekend demonstrates our ability to rapidly iterate the game based on player feedback.”

RocketWerkz is currently following a bi-monthly release schedule with plans to introduce a new arctic biome in two weeks, followed by a desert biome and special faction missions in the succeeding weeks.

Pre-purchase the Icarus: No Rescue on Steam to gain access to this Beta Weekend and all subsequent ones leading up to the game’s release on November 20th.
