Icarus Is Getting A New Multi-Biome Map In Its Upcoming New Frontiers Expansion

Dean Hall’s RocketWerkz studio has crawled out of the woodwork to announce the first expansion for its cooperative survival sandbox game, Icarus. The New Frontiers expansion promises a new multi-biome map where players will get to go up against new mutated creatures and bosses as they take on new operations with the help of over a hundred new craftable items.
Icarus launched back in December 2021, quickly rising to the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers list and selling nearly 1.5 million copies in its first month. Despite its impressive sales, daily concurrency numbers only peaked at just over 52,000 players on launch day and has since petered off to an average peak concurrency of 2,000 players.
Whether we’ll see a surge in player numbers when New Frontier comes out on August 24th remains to be seen. In the meantime, you can check out gameplay footage from the upcoming expansion in the new trailer below.
