Honkai: Star Rail Lays Out Version 3.6 Details and a Free 5-Star Character

Honkai: Star Rail’s next update, Back to Earth in Evernight, launches on September 24 and brings the sci-fi Gacha RPG back to the mysterious planet Amphoreus. The turn-based title from HoYoverse launched in 2023 on PC, mobile, and PlayStation and has been rolling out a major update roughly every six weeks. Version 3.6 keeps that cadence while making one of the game’s most popular crew members, Dan Heng, temporarily free in a new form.

Beyond the headline giveaway, the patch adds two 5-star characters, a tougher endgame challenge, and several limited-time events that should keep veteran players busy until the inevitable 4.0 milestone. Here are the highlights:

  • Free 5-star Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae: Anyone at Trailblaze Level 3 or higher can claim the new Permanence-path version of Dan Heng simply by logging in before Version 4.0 arrives.
  • Evernight joins the roster: A 5-star Ice unit on the Path of Remembrance, Evernight fights alongside her memosprite companion Evey and specializes in teamwide CRIT DMG boosts and delayed AoE bursts.
  • Anomaly Arbitration: A four-stage, high-difficulty trial that requires three separate teams. Clearing it nets players the new “Interference Key” currency and other rewards.
  • Colorful Mayhem and Nice Weather for Dromases events: Seasonal mini-games that mix multiplayer competition with a creature-raising side activity.
  • Main Story Replay: Completed Trailblaze and Companion missions can now be revisited, letting latecomers or lore-hunters rewatch cutscenes without starting a new save.

The narrative stakes continue to rise on Amphoreus, where Evernight’s “Era Nova” ideology clashes with the Astral Express crew’s more familiar mission of salvation. Dan Heng’s new Souldragon powers also deepen his connection to the game’s lore, suggesting that HoYoverse is positioning him as a central figure going into the next chapter.

For longtime players, the free Dan Heng drop and new endgame content should provide plenty of reasons to log back in, while newcomers get an immediate powerhouse unit to kick-start their accounts.
