Halo Infinite Won’t Have Online Matchmaking For Its Co-op Campaign

In the age of online multiplayer games, online matchmaking has become an extremely vital feature to not only make finding teammates and opponents a more streamlined affair but to also ensure that players are matched with others of more or less the same skill level. 343 Industries has unfortunately decided to forgo these benefits for Halo Infinite’s long awaited co-op campaign feature.
Instead of having an in-game online matchmaking feature, Halo Infinite players looking for squad mates will have to rely on a third-party application – the ever-trusty Discord. “We encourage you to continue to use the Halo LFG and the new Discord voice call feature on Xbox to find players to party up with as you continue playing the beta,” an Xbox spokesperson told GamesRadar+.
Incidentally, Discord recently started testing voice chat support on Xbox consoles through the Xbox Insiders Program and will soon be rolling out the feature for everyone else. You’ll have to jump through a few hoops to set it up on your Xbox but it’s definitely a step up from juggling multiple devices just to set up voice comms with your friends.
Meanwhile, the co-op campaign beta test is still in full swing on Xbox Game Pass and Steam and will be running until August 1st.
