The standalone version of GWENT, the premiere card game in the world of The Witcher 3, officially enters Closed Beta on PC and Xbox One later today. At long last, fans of the unique card game will be able to challenge other players online. The Kill the Servers stress tests that only lasted a few hours are over with; a lengthier Closed Beta is almost upon us.

CD Projekt Red Senior Community Coordinator Marcin Momot had the following to say about the announcement.

GWENT is an example of how the community can have actual impact on game developers. What we created as a part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is now, because of your involvement, a standalone game and a totally different experience that firmly stands on its own. The Closed Beta is another step in the process―you can now help us shape the game into something you can call your own.

The Closed Beta will be available to those who got in on both PC and Xbox One the moment that they receive their invitations. PlayStation 4 and Windows 10 versions will be made available at a later date.

If you have yet to sign up for the Closed Beta, you can do so on the official website. CD Projekt Red has yet to announce an end date for the Closed Beta, so there is always the possibility that another wave of invitations or three will be sent out as the Beta progresses.
