Gundam Evolution is shutting down later this year a little over a year since it first launched on PC despite being part of one of the most recognizable anime IPs in the world. Bandai Namco announced its plans to shut down the 6v6 team-based shooter yesterday as the game struggled to compete in the live service market.

“We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together. We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally,” Bandai Namco said. “Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.”

Players, however, will still have a few months to enjoy the game and Bandai Namco is planning to make the most of the remaining time with the launch of Season 6 next month. The new season will bring with it two new maps and a new Gundam unit in the form of the iconic Gundam Heavyarms. The final season will begin on October 25th and will feature yet another map and Gundam unit.

While there’s still new content to look forward to over the next few months, players will no longer be able to purchase premium currency starting on July 26th, although they’ll still be able to spend any EVO Coins they have left until the game officially shuts down on November 29th. Bandai Namco will not be issuing refunds for EVO Coins already purchased so make sure to spend them all before the servers are taken offline for good.

The dev team will be holding it’s final Mission Briefing later tonight at 11 p.m. PDT where they’ll be providing more information on the upcoming closure and what’s to come.
