Team-based shooter Gundam Evolution quietly sunsetted last week, a little over a year after it launched on PC and exactly one year after its multi-console launch. Developer Bandai Namco announced the game’s impending closure back in July after the 6v6 shooter failed to capture the attention of the gaming community and compete with other live service games.

“[We are] incredibly thankful for all the pilots who joined us on this journey, sharing their skill, teamwork, and love of Gundam,” the studio tweeted as the servers officially went dark.

Gundam Evolution’s closure was a long time coming as it saw an immediate decline in player numbers shortly after its launch. What remained of its playerbase noted Bandai Namco’s lack of marketing and its seemingly single-minded focus on monetizing the game while failing to address its ongoing balance issues.

That being said, the game still had it’s loyal following, some of whom offered their bittersweet farewells on Steam and X. “It wasn’t a perfect game by any means. But every battle, every game was absolutely fun,” reads one tweet. “Till the day we can be graced with something like it again.”
