Fortnite’s OG Map ‘Far Exceeded Expectations’ And Will Be Coming Back Again Next Year

Fortnite’s throwback OG Season has ended in an explosive note after another world-ending black hole swallows the original island with a new one set to take its place later today. It’s not the end of the original island though as Epic Games promises to bring it back next year, likely heralded by another glitchy time-travelling multiverse event.
“The OG season far exceeded our expectations,” tweeted Epic. “So much so that we’d like to bring it back… *opens 2024 roadmap doc*. In the meantime, see you on the Battle Bus.”
Season OG not only exceeded Epic’s expectations, it also set a new all-time peak concurrency record at just over 6.1 million players, its daily user record at 44 million players, and a total of 100 million players for the month of November. In any case, the season has officially come to an end with rapper Eminem closing it out with an in-game concert performance.
Meanwhile, Epic Games is preparing for the launch of the battle royale shooter’s next season – Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground. The new season begins today and will feature a new storyline, modifiable weapons, the introduction of Match Quests to replace Daily Quests, animation improvements, and more.
“Chapter 5 of Fortnite Battle Royale brings a beautiful new Island, but not all is what it seems,” teased Epic. “’The Society’ is pulling the strings in secret, and they’ve taken Peely in their spite. Join ‘The Underground’ and take down The Society’s bosses — including its most notorious boss Valeria.”
Chapter 5 – Season 1 is expected to go live in roughly an hour or so after this post goes up, so get your pickaxes ready and prepare to jump into a brand-new island.
