First Major Update and Story DLC Land in Dune: Awakening

Funcom has dropped the first sizeable content patch for its open-world survival game Dune: Awakening, alongside a separate story-driven DLC pack. The update, labeled “Chapter 2,” expands the main storyline that launched earlier this year, while the paid add-on “Lost Harvest” branches off with its own self-contained narrative.

The timing lines up with a Free Weekend running September 11-15 on Steam, giving newcomers a chance to poke around Arrakis before the game receives its first 20 percent discount.

Main beats in today’s rollout:

  • Chapter 2 (free)
Investigate a string of murders after Act 3, re-spec your character, and run into new dynamic encounters that shuffle the desert sandbox. Cosmetic additions include new hairstyles, tattoos, and gear variants.
  • Lost Harvest DLC (US $12.99)
Standalone quest line that digs into lesser-known Arrakis lore, plus the “Dune Man” building set, fresh décor pieces, cosmetic armor and weapons, color swatches, a Thumper emote, and the treadwheel vehicle for an off-bike traversal option.
  • Free Weekend
September 11-15, all content unlocked. Progress carries over if you buy the full game.
  • Launch discount
20 percent off on Steam and participating storefronts from September 11-22, marking the first price drop since release.
  • Season Pass option
Lost Harvest is part of a three-DLC pass priced at US $24.99, with two additional packs scheduled for later.

Funcom says future updates will keep layering narrative arcs and new biomes onto Arrakis, mirroring the studio’s live-service approach with Conan Exiles. If you’ve been waiting for more story or simply want to test the sand-sculpting systems, this week’s free window is the easiest entry point so far.
