Fan Finishes And Releases Warcraft Adventures: Lord Of The Clans

While it is not an MMO, Warcraft: Adventures: Lord of the Clans is an interesting piece of Warcraft history. The game was a point-and-click adventure game developed by Blizzard that featured cutscenes made by Animation Magic, the company responsible for the cutscenes in the abominations that were the Legend of Zelda games on Phillips CD-i, before being canceled in 1998 amidst a declining point-and-click adventure market due to issues of quality. Blizzard didn't believe that the game was up to snuff and summed up its decision with the following statement: "In essence, it was a case of stepping up and really proving to ourselves and gamers that we will not sell out on the quality of our games."

Other than several videos of the game being played that have been released over the years, the game was largely lost to the ages—until now. Last Saturday, Scrolls of Lore forum user Reidor published a link to a RAR file containing the game. The following message was included alongside the link.

After 18 years of waiting, project Warcraft Adventures cancelled Blizzard in 1998 year, finally released!

This is full pre-released version witn in-game cinematics + interest txt docs.

This is my gift for all Blizzard fans, old and new.

As big companies are wont to do, the original download has already been taken offline. For a release as big as this one, however, I imagine that many mirrors already exist.
