Evil Dead: The Game, which was initially scheduled to launch later this year, has been delayed to February 2022 to give the team at Saber Interactive more time to polish the game and add a single-player mode.

“Hey groovy gamers, we're targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time for polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience you’re all waiting for!” tweeted the team. “This additional time is also allowing us to implement a single-player option that will let you enjoy the game when you are without your co-op compadres.”

The asymmetric PvP game was first announced in December 2020 at the annual The Game Awards show. Bruce Campbell, who plays Ash Williams in the movies, will be back to reprise his role and “kick some Deadite ass.”

“Step into the shoes of Ash Williams or his friends from the iconic Evil Dead franchise and work together in a game loaded with over-the-top co-op and PVP multiplayer action! Play as a team of four survivors, exploring, looting, managing your fear, and finding key items to seal the breach between worlds in a game inspired by all three original Evil Dead films as well as the Starz original Ash vs Evil Dead television series.

Fight for the forces of good or take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and other players while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves as you seek to swallow their souls!”
