EVE Online Surgical Strike Update Nerfs Capital And Subcapital Ships
EVE Online has just been updated with a whole host of balance tweaks with yesterday’s Surgical Strike update. Of significant note is a nerf on the Capital Ship and Subcapital Ship’s survivability to encourage players to focus on killing enemy Capital Ships and structures.
“Surgical Strike will bring Capital survivability more in line with the rest of New Eden, reduce the overwhelming power of logistics, make adjustments to some long-standing powerhouses in the Subcapital meta, and begin to establish more payoff for getting up close and personal with your enemies.”
The update reduces the power of all modules used to increase armor and shield resistances by 20%. This includes armor coating, armor hardeners, energized plating, shield hardeners, and shield resistance amps. According to CCP Games, this change will result in a substantial drop in ship hit points across the board and the overall power of logistics and will make speed and damage modules more appealing. “The hope is to see bloodier fights, less stalemates, and a huge cross-sectional shift in the fitting meta,” says the studio.
