EVE Online’s Legion Update Sets the Stage for Operation Nemesis

CCP Games has pushed a sizeable patch to EVE Online, refining the May 2025 Legion expansion and paving the way for the first cross-game event in the series. The update refreshes ship balance, overhauls exploration systems and tweaks pirate faction requirements, all while preparing Capsuleers for Operation Nemesis, which is a limited-time event that links EVE Online with the in-development shooter EVE Vanguard.

Main changes in the Legion update

  • Rebalanced ship roster: underused hulls reworked, armor doctrines strengthened and overall combat meta shaken up.
  • Exploration enhancements: more frequent wormhole connections and a retooled Encounter Surveillance System to encourage small-scale skirmishes.
  • Freelance system expanded – new “Destroy Capsuleer” project type plus ESI support, opening the door to player-run bounty boards.
  • Quality-of-life tweaks: free, time-limited character resculpt token and lowered standing requirements for Angel Cartel and Guristas.

Operation Nemesis runs 16 September - 2 October 2025

During the event, Vanguard Warclones complete ground missions that reveal valuable space convoys in EVE Online. Capsuleers can then race to intercept those convoys, blurring the line between the two titles and injecting fresh activity into high-, low- and null-security space.

  • Ground assignments in EVE Vanguard expose high-value convoys in New Eden’s star systems.
  • Capsuleers within five jumps receive real-time alerts, sparking competitive scrambles for loot.
  • Participants battle Upwell defenses and Mordu’s Legion NPC forces before claiming rewards.
  • Prizes include SKINs, Trade Tokens, implants and a chance at PLEX, EVE’s premium currency.
