Embracer Group’s failed $2 billion partnership deal is generating bigger waves than we initially expected. With the company undergoing major restructuring, cancelling games, and laying off employees to stay afloat, its now reportedly considering selling off Gearbox Entertainment and its portfolio of MMOs.

According to Reuters, the Swedish video game holding company is currently talking with advisors on potentially selling its Gearbox arm which includes Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios, both of which were acquired by Embracer in late 2021 along with their MMOs, namely: Champions Online, Neverwinter, and Star Trek Online.

Anonymous sources say that the talks have piqued the interest of international gaming groups and other companies, especially since the aforementioned games have been consistent revenue generators for Embracer since their acquisition.

Embracer has yet to confirm or deny the rumors but it’s definitely going to be big news for the video game community either way.
