Funcom’s 4X Strategy Game Dune: Spice Wars Now Has A Multiplayer Mode

4X real-time strategy game Dune: Spice Wars is now officially a multiplayer game as of its first major update since it launched into Early Access in April. Players can now either team up in 2v2 matches or face off against each other in free-for-all matches with up to four players.
“Take the reins of either the Atreides, Harkonnen, Fremen, or Smugglers. Any open spots can be filled with AI-controlled factions ranging in difficulty from easy to insane, and each game can be tailored to suit your preferences, including map size and sandworm, storm, and Sietch activity. Victory conditions are also up to you!”
“We've taken great efforts to make Spice Wars true to Frank Herbert's source material, to deliver an experience that delivers the same sense of grand machinations, subtle political plotting, and great reversals,” said developer Shiro Games. “With multiplayer, the potential for these slow boils and epic moments skyrockets, as players vie for the upper hand on each stage of war.”
Aside from the new multiplayer feature, the update also introduces a reworked development tree, new regions, political resolutions, and events. Details can be found in the full patch notes on the Dune: Spice Wars official site. The game is currently on sale at 20% off on Steam until June 24th for those who want to check it out.
