Battleborn Adding New Game Mode: Face-Off

Battleborn is adding a new game mode on October 13, 2016, free for players who own the game, called Face-Off. Players will go head-to-head in 5v5 matches where they must defend against the Varelsi (Battleborn's storyline antagonists) by blowing them up and collecting the masks they drop to earn points. The more masks you collect, the more points you earn. First team to rack up 500 points wins.

Face-Off takes place on Capture maps – Temples, Snowblind, and Outback – with some key changes. There will be up to six Varelsi spawn camps in different locations around each map. The mask depository is located near the center of each map, at frequently contested points. Private bot matches will not be available at release but may be an addition further down the line.

The new game mode will release alongside Battleborn's first "DLC Story Operation," called "Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion." (Would be great if it was Atticus Finch.) No info to share about the DLC just yet, but details should drop sometime soon.

The new game mode announcement arrives just after Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford denied rumors that Battleborn would be going free-to-play. Perhaps Face-Off will help player numbers recover.

Will you be logging back into Battleborn to try out the new game mode on October 13th?
