Aliens: Fireteam Elite officially kicks off its first alien-killing season with a new tank class called the Phalanx. The new class has the ability to quickly deploy a shield to absorb damage coming from the whichever direction the player is facing, except for damage from acid and explosions.

“Marine Phalanxes are named for their collapsible shields, which allow them to serve as mobile bunkers. As one arm is needed to hold the shield up, they are armed with a Handgun and CQW, both of which can be wielded in one hand. When swarmed, they can trigger a point-blank Shock Pulse to disrupt foes.”

Season 1 also comes with four brand-new weapons, the N79 EVA Laser handgun, the L33 Pike rifle, the Type 88 Heavy Assault Rifle, and the L59 Minigun. The armory has also been updated with the two new gun colors, two new gun decals, and the new Cowboy Hat head accessory.

In addition to new content, the Season 1 update also fixes a number of identified bugs, including a weapon leveling issue where all level-based weapon perks were being applied immediately even if they haven’t been unlocked yet. The XP requirement to reach the 4-star max weapon level has also been decreased. Reaching 4 stars now only requires XP equal to a 3-star level. As compensation for the weapon leveling issue, the team has set all currently-owned weapons to max level.

“Enjoy your 4 star guns!” said the devs.

The full Season 1 update notes can be found on the Aliens: Fireteam Elite official site. You can also watch the Phalanx in action in the video below.
