Final Fantasy 11 Welcomes Back Old & New Players In May

Square Enix is holding a series of events starting this May to make its first subscription MMORPG, Final Fantasy 11, more accessible than ever. The events are aimed at both returning veterans and new players who never got a chance to try the console/PC MMORPG first released back in 2002.

A Discount Campaign kicks off on May 16 and runs until May 31 during which time prospective players can purchase the Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition for $9.99. This version grants access to the full game plus all expansions to date. Previous players who already own the base can pay just $4.99 for the Seekers of Adoulin expansion pack to bring them up to date. World transfers are also discounted, from their usual $18.00 down to $9.00.

Running nearly concurrently with the Discount Campaign is the Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign (May 16-28) during which former subscribers can play the game for free, no subscription needed! Characters whose account status is set to "Cancelled" prior to May 13 will be eligible for the free period. The campaign celebrates FF11's 16th anniversary and all players will enjoy double experience, complimentary items each week, the return of alter egos, and much more during the course of the event.

We here at MMOs.com tried Final Fantasy 11 last week for Grindfest Friday on our twitch channel. While the game is certainly old, the servers are still quite active. New and returning players alike shouldn't have difficulty progressing through the game, though its recommend to follow a guide when installing and setting up an account. That process proved more frustrating and time consuming than the tutorial quest line and the first few levels of the game!

Bless Online Spotlights Guardian And Paladin Classes

bless online rvrLast week, Neowiz shone the spotlight on three of the playable classes in Bless Online: the Berserker, Ranger, and Mage. This week, the devs shift their focus to the Guardian and Paladin classes.

“Guardians in Bless are known to be brilliant strategic commanders who protect both their allies and the front lines. How do they do this you ask? Well, they need to be brave. Every time a guardian uses a combo, they gain bravery (a resource like mana). Once a guardian’s bravery meter is full, players can change their stance to activate the [Enhance] effect. When [Enhance] is activated, a guardian receives additional effects to help them eliminate their enemies and climb to victory.”

Paladins, on the other, hand are hybrid melee fighters capable of dishing out damage or supporting allies with their healing abilities. “The third skill of a combo in each of the paladin’s stances is a buff, and by changing the buff used, paladins can function either as a damage dealer or a healer,” says the devs. “Although the paladin has fewer combo types than other classes, it requires more tactical skill as choosing the right combo for the situation is extremely important.”

Check out the preview videos below. You can also check out the Bless Online Steam Community page for more info.

Fortnite Meteor Heralds The Start Of Season 4

fortnite impact superheroBrace for impact! A single ominous line heralding the start of Fortnite Season 4 later today. Now, we’ll finally get to find out what the deal is with that comet, meteor, or whatever that massive thing is that’s about to hit the game.

Epic Games has been teasing the event over Twitter for the past couple of days, wrapping things up nicely with this Tweet:

Small meteors have also been hitting the ground in the past few days but the speculation is strong that the damage done by these itty-bitty meteorites will be nothing compared to “the big one.” The theory that Tilted Towers will be wiped from the face of the game with a much-needed meteor strike is still around, and so are the rumors of aliens, superheroes, and space-themed combat.

Whatever it is, it’s surely been one hell of a wait. See you on the other side!

Runescape Introduces Safecracking With The Latest Patch

runescape safecrackingNo safe is… erm.. safe with the release of the latest Runescape update. The update introduces safecracking along with tools that you can use to make The Thieves Guild of Gielinor proud.

“Safecracking is a new training method, unlocked after completing the Buyers and Cellars quest and related capers. From the safes you’ll get Thieving XP, cold hard cash and reward points. These points can be spent on gubbins like a consumable reward that protects you from being stunned, as well as an item that allows you to instantly remove all suspicion from one elf clan.”

Of course, cracking safes requires the right set of tools, which is why master lockpicks and master stethoscopes have also been added with the update. Both items are unbreakable and can be purchased with reward points.

Safecracking is a training method which can be considered as part of the Thieving tree. A total of 49 safes have been placed all around Gielinor so bring the crew together to find them all.

The update also comes with fixes and tweaks to the UI, Clan Settings interface, Dungeoneering token bags, and teleporting. You can find the full patch notes here.

Jagex also has a plant theme going on for RuneScape in May. Lead Designer David Osborne and Design Director Mark Ogilvie talk about it after the jump.
