Icarus-M Brings WeMade's MMORPG To Mobile Arena

icarus-m-announcement-trailer-banner

Everyone's going mobile these days. WeMade is no exception. The company unveiled a trailer for their upcoming mobile action MMORPG Icarus-M. The Unreal Engine 4 mobile game will feature many of the systems currently in its PC sibling Riders of Icarus, including taming, raid bosses, and flying—according to Steparu.

The reveal comes a few weeks after NCSoft showed off their mobile port: Blade and Soul: Hongmoon Rising. I wonder if we'll see more mobile counterparts for MMORPGs in the future.

The Icarus-M trailer shows off quite a bit of action-oriented combat with flashy skills. It looks good: lots of colorful firework explosions. It does appear to be stage-based rather than an open world, but with limited details that's purely speculation.

No world on a release date or if the game will be ported to the West. I hope so.

Mobile is quickly catching up to the quality present on traditional hardware. It's only a matter of time before the difference between mobile games and PC games is arbitrary—at least on the surface-level.

It's Happening: Lost Ark Closed Beta Announced

lost-ark-teaser-site

After months of speculation it's finally happening. Lost Ark will be holding a closed beta on August 24th—hopefuls can sign-up starting August 3rd. The test will be limited to around 9000 users according to Steparu, and you have to be a South Korean resident to participate. But it's progress.

The beta doesn't come as too much of a surprise. The game is scheduled to be shown off at ChinaJoy and will likely make an appearence at G-Star 2016. Plus, the closed beta announcement arrives just after data sifters discovered an SLI profile for Lost Ark in an NVIDIA driver update.

For now the teaser site has a slick countdown timer so you can stare at the clock instead of browsing miscellaneous animals on r/aww.

I'm looking forward to hearing about player reactions to Lost Ark during the testing phase as there is supposedly no NDA (no confirmation yet). And no confirmation as to a Western release. Hopefully, after the initial beta hype we learn something about a Westward journey.

Get Your Viscera Pumped For Twin Saga's Combat In A New Trailer

twin-saga-banner

Aeria Games is showing off cinematic combat sequences for their upcoming anime MMORPG Twin Saga in a new trailer. I'm happy to report that the music choice is more appropriate than the last Twin Saga trailer.

The Founder's Beta is scheduled to begin on August 09, 2016. You will have to buy a pack to get in, but the game will launch as a free-to-play title following the beta at some point. (If you happen to be someone who spent $299.99 on a Founder's Pack please let me know.)

Beyond cutesy graphics players will freely switch between classes on one character, so long as they've unlocked the class. It's a neat system I wish more games would adopt, and allows players to conform to a situation, e.g. in need of a tank? Just switch to a tank class.

The trailer also shows off class ultimate moves. Each class has three available, which they charge by using abilities in battle—go figure.

But my favorite aspect of Twin Saga, on paper, is portable housing. It reminds me of Howl's Moving Castle and I'm curious to see how exactly the mechanics plays out.

Will you be playing in the Twin Saga Founder's Beta? Or will you wait for the game to go free-to-play?

Riders Of Icarus' Blight Of Frost Keep Expansion Is Now Live

riders-of-icarus-blight-of-frost-keep-rondo

Nexon America announced today that Riders of Icarus' first major update, Blight of Frost Keep, is now live. Players can now make their way to the frozen region of Parna's Coast, a region that is so cold that their mobility will be affected if they don't ride mounts that can withstand the cold. The update also raises the fairly low level cap to 35 and, adds new dungeons, and introduces a whole new set of mounts for the region.

The key features are as follows.

  • Parna’s Coast: Enter the new snow-covered lands of Parna’s Coast to discover new dangers and new mounts as you explore this fascinating new high-level region. With powerful monsters and a misty frost that permeates the area and can affect a players’ mobility if they’re not prepared, Riders will want to team up with others to succeed in the new ‘Field Raid’.
  • The Frost Keep: Riders level 34 and above will find an icy challenge awaiting them in the new Frost Keep dungeon, the stronghold of the Frost Guard and their enigmatic leader. In this barren and lifeless keep, players will have the chance to add ghostly new mounts to their collection.
  • Cavern of the Veil: More mysteries will be unearthed by Riders level 28 and above in the Cavern of the Veil, where they will face off against a variety of deadly bosses deep underground. As players explore, they should keep their eyes peeled to find and tame a rare mount!New Mounts: Parna’s Coast has its own unique environment, and with it comes new mounts to capture and tame, including the Venomous Caspert, Karas and Terror Kerav, who will lend an advantage in the frosty lands.
  • Guild Alliances: Forge strategic alliances with other guilds in preparation for future large scale PVP war events! Players’ efforts will see their alliances grow stronger and their fame spread throughout the land.

Every Player Matters In Albion Online's Latest Trailer

albion-online-final-beta-trailer-banner

Albion Online's final beta trailer recently released and tells a story where soldiers, gatherers, and bandits play a role in the lives of every player. The final beta begins August 01, 2016. Of course you have to be a Founder if you want to participate in the game's last test. Or you can wait for the official launch, but keep in mind Albion Online will not be free to play.

The final beta brings with it a number of changes as highlighted by our previous coverage:

The Final Beta will bring a host of major changes with it. The new world, featuring new continents and biomes, will finally be in-game and able to be explored. At the beginning of the Final Beta, the Mountain, Swamp, and Steppes biomes will be available. The Forest and Highlands biomes will be added during Final Beta. The changes being made to the Guild vs. Guild system—more details of which can be found in the video embedded below—will be going live at the beginning of the Final Beta, as well as the overhauls of the Crime and Reputation System and the Item System.

The trailer below has me interested. Interconnected player-run worlds are not easy to pull off, and I hope to see emergent stories like the one below. It reminds me of the spontaneous player-narratives Eve Online is famous for. I'll be checking out Albion's final beta to see if I find a new home within its world.

Will you be playing in Albion Online's final beta, or will you wait and see how the game shapes up at launch?

Perfect World Entertainment released a new trailer for Livelock today that unveils the game's story. It was also announced today that the PS4 version has been pushed back to August 23rd. The delay is said to have been necessary to ensure the best experience on for those playing the game on PS4. The PC and Xbox One versions remain unaffected and will launch on August 2nd as scheduled.
