HeroWarz Round 2 - Sunday Funday Round 58

HeroWarz Sunday Funday Gameplay Video

This week the MMOs.com crew (Missing Shu) took a lot at HeroWarz for the second time - we picked up where we last left off, except we got Altay back. HeroWarz is a free to play linear action MMORPG that plays a bit like Elsword Online and Dungeon Fighter Online in that the gameplay takes place in instanced zones. Players can party with up to 3 others (total 4) or take on the story missions on their own. Our discussion varies from HeroWarz to movies to MMORPG mechanics.

Livelock Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

livelock-explosion-banner

Those of you who want to save the fate of humanity from endless war will have to wait just a little bit longer, as Livelock has been delayed indefinitely on all platforms. The announcement follows closely behind last week's announcement that the PS4 version of the game had been delayed indefinitely.

The reason for the delay is that Tuque Games "would much rather have everyone be able to play Livelock on the platform that they prefer globally on the same release day." Therefore the PC and Xbox One versions of the game will be pushed back to launch simultaneously with the PS4 version. The new release date has yet to be announced.

Get Your First Look At Snail Games' Reborn Dark And Light In New Trailer

dark-and-light-2016-banner

According to MMOCulture, Snail Games unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming title Dark and Light—also known as Savage Horizon—yesterday at ChinaJoy 2016. The title is being touted as a "true sandbox" in which players can explore 40,000 km² of land and build houses or even create entire kingdoms. Tons of different roles will be available for players to take on, including fighter, hunter, and treasure hunter.

Snail Games also announced several new features. Dark and Light now runs on Unreal Engine 4—you can find a comparison of the new graphics vs the old graphics embedded below. There are now three factions, instead of just the Dark and Light factions. There is also supposedly the addition of "the concept of multiple gods expanding into multiple universes," but it's unclear exactly what that means.

Blue Saga's Source Code Has Been Released

blue-saga

You may or may not remember Blue Saga, a charming little indie MMORPG with a pirate theme. The game has long been plagued by downtime and slow content updates, leading to a rather small community. The solution? Release the game's source code after a small in-game event.

The explanation for this move is as follows.

As you all know the player Quacky and Natas have both collected all 20 monster cards in the "Lost Archipelago", and by doing so they've unlocked the ultimate secret!

What is this "Ultimate Secret"? Well it is the CODE of Blue Saga. Not something I am proud of, but I liked what it accomplished =D

This solution is due to that I don't have much time these days to update the game, so making the code public I hope players will take care of it.

Now you will be able to create your own version of Blue Saga, changing the balancing, quests, map, level up, PK settings, PVP on or off or even fix annoying bugs =)

But in order to keep the community and make it grow, all players will be able to use these forums and play on all different servers that will be created.

Those interested in creating—or even just hosting—their own version of Blue Saga can find the source code on Github. Its rare that MMORPGs are open sourced, so this could serve as a good learning experience for those interested in creating their own MMORPG one day. The only restrictions placed on the source code are that you don't change any of the "original graphics, logos, music, or credits" and you can't use the graphics or music in any other projects, so there's also quite a lot of modding potential.

Barons Of The Galaxy Enters Open Beta

Ofir Maimon announced today that his tick-based sci-fi MMO strategy game, Barons of the Galaxy, has entered Open Beta. Anyone can now jump in and begin hatching plans to take over the universe one city at a time.

Barons of the Galaxy looks to set itself apart in a number of ways. Multiple players can inhabit each city—you may have a building in that city, but others can also have one there. While the game contains warfare, it focuses more on the business and political aspects. Furthermore, there are in-game mechanics to balance power, meaning that the rich and powerful may not always stay rich and powerful.

Barons of the Galaxy is intended to stay in Open Beta until later this year, when a full launch is planned. For more information, or to try the game out, head over to the official website. Also be sure to check out our interview with Ofir Maimon.
