Dungeon Defenders II Enters Free-To-Play Open Alpha On PC

Trendy Entertainment's free-to-play sequel to their hit action-tower defense game Dungeon Defenders II is now an actual free-to-play title—on PC, at least. All prospective PC players can now head to the Steam store and download the game completely for free. PS4 players will have to buy into the alpha for the time being.
This announcement arrives following the latest patch, entitled "Ascension." Towers were made stronger and enemies were rebalanced to match their power. The power of each weapon was increased and "new variations in attack patterns" were introduced. A new "Stat Allocation System" was introduced, as well, allowing players to specialize their characters.
The Ascension patch will also feature a second half, which is expected to be released on October 27th. It will include two "holiday-themed" maps, a new Incursion, new minibosses, and more. The team are also promising "spooky costumes" just in time for Halloween.
If you've yet to play Dungeon Defenders II, now is the time. It's quite the improvement over the original and it is free.
