ArenaNet And ESL Set To Launch $400,000 Guild Wars 2 Pro League

ArenaNet and ESL announced today that they are setting up to launch a $400,000 Guild Wars 2 Pro League. There will be two seasons of league tournaments and will be open to all players aged 16 and up. Open qualifiers for the first season will begin in November. The end of the season is currently "slated to culminate in a Season Finals LAN event at ESL studios."
With this move, ArenaNet wants to continue to expand the competitive community within Guild Wars 2. The game saw a large amount of growth in its "elite competitions" with the introduction of the World Tournament Series last year. This new $400,000 Pro League is intended to replace the World Tournament Series moving forward.
The Pro League will feature eight teams from each region competing for the combined $400,000 prize pool. This will take place over the course of two seven week seasons. Four of the teams will be decided by November's open qualifiers. The other four will be "a mix of World Tournament Series Finalists and the highest ranking teams in the final round of the October Go4GuildWars2 Cups."
