Ramen VR Announces Zenith Free-To-Play Spin-Off Called Zenith: Infinite Realms

The idea of creating a spin-off game to fund the development of the original game seems to be catching on, with Ramen VR planning to do just that for Zenith. The indie studio revealed that a major overhaul is on deck for the Kickstarted VR MMORPG as part of its Version 2.0 release, followed by an admission that it’s been struggling to turn a profit for the better part of 2023.
To generate additional revenue, the studio announced its plans to launch a free-to-play co-op action game mode called Zenith: Infinite Realms, promising season-based content, a vastly improved parkour-based movement system, and a “redesigned social playground.”
Both Infinite Realms and the original game, Zenith: The Last City, will collectively be known as Zenith Nexus, which will be free to download on all available platforms. The Last City will continue to be available as a paid DLC, with all existing accounts and progress carrying over to the DLC version.
Ramen VR will also be introducing premium currency called Zennies which can be used to purchase seasonal content and cosmetics from the Zenith: Infinite Realms cash shop. Those who purchase The Last City before Infinite Realms launches will also receive some form of compensation, which has yet to be decided on.
“The decisions we’ve made to get here we do not take lightly,” says Ramen VR. “We take full ownership of what Zenith: The Last City succeeded and failed at and aim to bring all its learnings into Infinite Realms and beyond.”
“Going free to play will boost the social multiplayer experience,” adds the studio. “The new virtual currency and shop will open an avenue for revenue we never had before. With an arcade-like experience that’s more accessible than ever we’re inviting millions of new players to Zenith: Nexus and potentially The Last City too.”
