Spellcasting VR MMORPG Wizard’s Wrath Launches $60K Kickstarter Campaign

It’s probably not a good idea to incur the wrath of a wizard, unless of course it’s a promising cross-platform game called Wizard’s Wrath. The game aims to combine popular video game genres into one single MMORPG that’s part first-person shooter, part real-time strategy, and part survival crafting game with PvP duels and highly-intelligent monster AI into the mix.

“Wizard’s Wrath is set in world torn apart by magic. Many years ago, magical portals started appearing and connecting our worlds with others. The surface world was lost to hordes of strange creatures. Our most powerful mages lifted our cities to safety, floating in the skies far above, and we have taken refuge there ever since. But now the magic is fading and we are returning to the chaos below. You alone may hold the key but can you rise to the challenge and which path will you take?”

Players will be able to choose from one of four factions, each representing a different school of magic. They’ll be able to craft various items as they fight to survive in the magical post-apocalyptic world with the ultimate goal of building their own wizard tower for both protection and bragging rights.

Wizard’s Wrath is currently being developed for virtual reality headsets, including Quest, with plans to also launch on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. According to developer DragonfiAR, they’ve already built the four main pillars of the game which are currently functioning as their own separate VR minigames and will eventually be combined into a single MMORPG experience.

If you want to help fund the game’s development, developer DragonfiAR has launched a $60,000 Kickstarter campaign that will either grant you access to the minigames, the full MMORPG and beta tests, or a combination of the two depending on your pledge tier.

So far, the studio has managed to raise $230 in three days. The Kickstarter campaign still has about a month ahead of it, but that’s not exactly a good sign. However, there have been Kickstarted MMO’s that managed to reach their funding goal with just a few hours left in the campaign. Here’s hoping that Wizard’s Wrath will be one of those MMO’s.
