Valheim Wins GDCA 2022’s Best Debut And Audience Award, Mistlands Still A Ways Off

It’s been a while since we last heard from Valheim developer Iron Gate Studio but the team is back with an update on what they’ve been up to. In their latest dev update, the team reveals that they’ve put their whole focus on fleshing out the new Mistlands biome along with everything else that comes with it, including new monsters, new dungeons, and new weapons, one of which can be seen in the teaser video below.
Unfortunately, the team says that there’s still a lot of work to be done on the new biome and it’s still quite some time away.
“Designing a new biome is a large undertaking, with many pieces that need to slot together before it can become the complete experience it needs to be, and it will require a lot of iterations and testing before it’s done. The biome is quite some time away still, but we are excited for it and we believe the result will be well worth the wait!”
Iron Gate also proudly reports that Valheim won both the Best Debut and Audience Award at this year’s recently-held Game Developer’s Choice Awards at GDC 2022. The Viking sandbox MMO was also Verified on Steam Deck earlier this month which means that it’s fully-compatible with Valve’s new portable PC.
More information can be found on the Valheim Steam page.
