V Rising Players Petition For Arachnophobia Filters For Creepy Spider Boss And Mobs

Spiders or arachnid-like enemies can be found in a multitude of games and players can always count on being mobbed by a swarm of the eight-legged arthropods, especially in horror titles like V Rising. The vampire survival MMO has its fair share of spider enemies which has apparently caused distress in players with arachnophobia, preventing them from enjoying the game.

One player whose arachnophobic friend was reportedly severely affected by a boss known as Ungora the Spider Queen and her minions has started a petition on Discord asking Stunlock for a feature that can make the boss less err… spider-like. While some players supported the idea, others felt that spiders will always be present in gothic horror games and that they should be left as they are. The general community, however, agrees that the issue can best be fixed by implementing mod support so players can do something about it themselves.

Stunlock Studios has yet to comment on the matter although Rock Paper Shotgun notes that they wouldn’t be the first studio to implement an arachnophobia filter of some sort should they choose to do so. Obsidian Entertainment’s survival game, Grounded, and Coffee Stain Studio’s factory sim, Satisfactory, both had the same feature. The former reduced spiders in the game to big floating blobs while the latter turned them into floating cat heads.

The petition thread in question, however, got so heated that the moderators were forced to archive and close it. As for mods, Stunlock currently has no plan to add mod support and likely won’t be doing so in the near future which means that players will have to deal with the various creepy crawlies found in the game in their own way.
