dauntless green dragonGood news for console players. No, Dauntless isn’t coming out on consoles anytime soon. Although, the upcoming ARPG will feature controller support allowing players to choose their desired control method. Phoenix Labs also announced that they will running a Founder’s Alpha as their Alpha testing comes to a close. The dev team also revealed in a Dauntless subreddit their reasons for choosing to go with their free-to-play model. Phoenix Labs co-founder gtez writes:

“Not going to lie, I don’t know how most games implement F2P either. Ultimately, because we believe that the best games are played with your friends, we decided if we kept our player hats on and stayed true to our vision, we could bring this game to more folks through F2P. This let’s folks play regardless of where you live or how much you make. We also feel it is actually more consumer friendly as it let’s you play and make the value decision before spending a dollar if you want. Ideally we want you to feel like we have earned you dollars.”
