battlefield 5 war in the pacific bannerBattlefield 5 goes back to its roots with the launch of Chapter 5: War in the Pacific seasonal update. The update brings the franchise back to the Pacific theater of war and will feature the return of two nostalgic maps from Battlefield 1942: Iwo Jima and Pacific Storm.

“Think back to where it all started for the Battlefield™ franchise with Battlefield 1942 and more recently Battlefield 1943. The iconic battles via land, air, and sea on maps like Iwo Jima are memories that gamers have only found in Battlefield. On October 31 for the first time in ten years, DICE is bringing players back to the battle of the Pacific in World War 2 with Battlefield V Chapter 5: War in the Pacific.”

The update will also introduce the US and Japanese factions into the game along with the M1 Garand rifle and the M1919A6 machine gun, the M4 Sherman tank and the F4U Corsair plane, and the Katana and Flamethrower Battle Pickups. New Chapter Rewards will also be available including soldier sets, weapons, and weapon skins. The Wake Island map will also be coming sometime in December.

Players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will get the chance to take Battlefield 5 for a free test run over the next two weekends. The Grand Operations multiplayer mode will be free from October 24th to October 28th followed by Chapter 5: War in the Pacific on November 1st through November 4th.
