Twitch Affiliates Can Now Monetize Game Referrals

Just today, Twitch has announced that those who are currently participating in the Twitch Affiliates program will be able to receive a cut of referred games and in-game microtransactions.

The referral system was previously exclusive to Twitch Partners, but now Twitch Affiliates will also be able to earn a 5% kickback from every game or microtransaction referred through their channel.

The referral system is automatically implemented for all Twitch Affiliates. As long as they are streaming a game that is currently available for sale in the Twitch catalogue, a purchase button will appear on the channel while the stream is live.

While the Twitch Affiliate program only just launched recently, Twitch seems to be working actively to make its platform a more friendly and rewarding experience for those who are passionate about streaming. This bodes well for Twitch, who may just learn to avoid the growing pains and pitfalls of its cousin YouTube.
