Transformers Will Be Invading Mobile Too

Turns out "more than meets the eye" applies to mobile devices too. Hasbro is partnering with Kabam to create a “massively multiplayer mobile game” set in the Transformers universe. The announcement was made at ChinaJoy this past weekend, and right after Tencent announced the development of FPS Transformers Online.

VentureBeat reports that the game will release sometime in 2017, and stated:

A Kabam spokesperson said that this game will “will be span all of Transformers lore tied to Generations. There will be movie elements, of course, at major beats for all the films over the coming years, but this is a Kabam/Hasbro deal, and not a Kabam/Paramount Deal,” they said. “[It’s] less movie-centric, but will still be supported with film content when it makes sense.”

Details are ambiguous at best. I'm inclined to believe it will be similar to Marvel: Contest of Champions, as the same developer—Kabam Vancouner—is working on the project.

I have no doubt the game will be a success thanks to its franchise power alone. We'll see how exactly shapes up in the months to come.
