Torchlight 3 End-Game System And Relic Overhaul Revealed, Torchlight 2 Will Be For A Limited Time
Echtra Games has just published their latest Torchlight 3 state of the game update on Steam. It’s been four weeks since the game launched on Steam and the developers are proud to report that they’ve been hard at work fixing bugs and other reported issues that have been plaguing the game since launch.
The developers also revealed the game’s card-based end-game system called Fazeer’s Dun’djnn Challenge that will allow players to take on a series of increasingly difficult dungeons conjured by the powerful djinni, Fazeer Shah, from Torchlight 2. Here’s how it works:
“Fazeer conjures a series of dungeons for you that escalate in difficulty, enchanted with dozens of new arduous and bewildering affixes. Fazeer is a sporting sort and will deal you a hand of challenge choices in the form of cards. From these, you can pick the monsters, elements, detrimental and beneficial affixes you will surmount. At regular intervals you must also complete a challenging boss battle to save your progress. That’s right, if you die in this dungeon, your progress will be reset back to the last checkpoint.”
A major overhaul to the Relic system is also underway which will let players choose their Relics during character creation instead of waiting until later in the game to unlock the Relic skill tree. Ember Cores will also be removed from the game since players will no longer be using them to craft Relics. Unfortunately, all progress on the live servers will need to be wiped when the update rolls out because of the significant effect these changes will have on how the game is played. The team will also be opening a Public Test Realm next week to give players a chance to test out new features before they go live.
In other Torchlight news, Torchlight 2 will be free on the Epic Games Store from July 16th to July 23rd. Simply login within the aforementioned dates to grab your free digital copy.
