TiMi Studio Opens Montreal Studio, Teases New AAA Open-World Multi-Platform IP

Tencent subsidiary TiMi Studio Group, the studio behind Call of Duty Mobile, Honor of Kings, and Pokemon Unite, has just announced the opening of a new studio in Montreal. TiMi Montreal joins the Chinese gaming group’s growing family of North American studios, which includes the newly-opened Los Angeles and Seattle studios, and will be exclusively working on the development of an unannounced new IP.
“The Montréal team will be challenged to create a AAA open world, service-focused video game for players to explore across multiple platforms. TiMi Montréal will set its own creative destiny with plans to grow into a sizable team by the end of this year.”
“Montréal offers access to a diverse, trend-setting work force capable of creating AAA open world experiences at a massive scale,” said TiMi’s Head of Global Game Development Vincent Gao. “Our focus is to start with console and PC platforms with the highest quality, and then let gamers all over the world play how they want regardless of platforms.”
The new studio also aligns with the international business community’s efforts to promote Montreal as a world-class hub for video game development.
“TiMi’s decision to set up in Montréal strengthens the city’s position as a top world-class video game development hub. It has the potential to attract highly skilled talent to grow the city’s gaming ecosystem, which is in line with Montréal International’s efforts to promote the sector to qualified workers and investors,” said Montreal International President and CEO Stéphane Paquet during the studio’s opening.
Meanwhile, TiMi Seattle is also working on a new multi-platform shooter while the TiMi Los Angeles acts as the management and operations hub for the North American studios under the leadership of Executive Producer Sinjin Bain.
