The Great Expedition Update Has Just Sailed Into Black Desert Online

The Great Expedition, the first ocean-related expansion in Black Desert Online is now live. The update introduces a long list of new content designed to give players more things to do while out sailing in the vast Great Ocean. This includes new aquatic species, sailing quests, Oquilla’s Eye daily quests, and new NPCs in Oquilla’s Eye and drifting in the Margoria Sea. Bartering has also been added along with a Sea Coin shop where players can purchase a variety of in-game items.

“Many sailors have gathered at the taverns and Inns of Velia and Epheria to find a captain who would sail to the broad ocean. Islands in the ocean are full of Papu and Otter barterers who are competing with each other to barter with the adventurers. People who have tried to cross the ocean are now drifting the Margoria Sea and each of them has his/her own reasons to be in such a situation. Meanwhile, a strange current coming from the mysterious island, Oquilla's Eye, has caused bizarre sea creatures to drift to the innermost parts of Calpheon and Balenos and to threaten the citizens.”

A new ship, called the Epheria Cog, has also been added along with the ability to upgrade the Improved Epheria Sailboat and the Improved Epheria Frigate to Epheria Caravel or Epheria Galleass. The Epheria Caravel and Epheria Galleass can then be upgraded into the Epheria Carracks which comes in four types: Advance, Balance, Volante, and Valor. The update also brings with it numerous ship-related fixes, tweaks, and improvements.
