The Day Before developer FNTASTIC has resurfaced with news about the legally-handcuffed survival horror multiplayer shooter. In a lengthy five-article post on Australian video game website WellPlayed, the studio reveals that its pursuing legal action to get the game reinstated on Steam.

Readers will remember that The Day Before was pulled off Valve’s digital platform earlier this year following a copyright complaint by a South Korean app developer who apparently already owned the trademark for the game’s title that he’s been using for his calendar app. This subsequently caused the game’s early access launch to be pushed back to November, although the studio admitted later that it was also partly because the game still needed a lot of work.

The studio also talked about the game’s main social hub, called the Woodberry Survival Colony. As with most MMO social hubs, the colony is where players will go to “seek employment,” or pick up quests as we like to call them. These quests can range from manual labor to more artistic tasks such as taking on the mantle of a musician.

Players will also be able to purchase vehicles and personal houses where they and their friends can gather together after a hard days’ work of loading stuff or playing music. The studio, however, failed to clarify whether the game will have microtransactions and exactly how many people will be allowed to join one server.

FNTASTIC also confirmed that the game will focus more on PvP encounters rather than shooting down zombies, although players will be able to take on occasional quests that revolve around restoring some form of society in the post-apocalyptic world.

The team also locked down a November 10 launch date for the PC version of the game with a console release planned for later. To ensure that they have enough manpower to get the game out on time, FNTASTIC says that they’re making use of “unpaid volunteers” who they “invite” to work on a laundry list of proposed tasks.

“Our innovative work culture, based on the philosophy of volunteerism, has proven attractive to people worldwide,” said FNTASTIC. “Today we have more than 300 volunteers representing 30 nationalities, and our doors are always open to anyone who aligns with our culture.”

“Fntastic has been a people’s organization from day one. Even the birth of Fntastic, through Kickstarter and our debut game, The Wild Eight, underscores our distinction from soulless corporations,” the studio added.

The studio also released a new teaser trailer showcasing a race car cruising through post-apocalyptic city streets. You’ll find that embedded right down below.
