The Cycle: Frontier Reduces Mission Clear Requirements And Adjusts Endgame Gear

Yager Developments continues to tweak The Cycle: Frontier based on feedback and data gathered in the PvPvE shooter’s ongoing debut season. This week’s patch focuses on making missions easier to complete and weapons easier to use.
Mission clear requirements for both PvP and PvE have been adjusted with lower kill and hunting requirements while endgame weapons have had their recoil reduced across the board. Epic Shields are also slightly easier to craft with the recent reduction in crafting requirements.
The matchmaking system has also been improved to ensure that new players aren’t lobbed in with more experienced ones and to give skilled squads a greater challenge. Experience gains for top-ranking solo players have also been slightly adjusted.
“Where are we in terms of balancing at the moment? In general, we see that people are starting to use late-game gear increasingly, as we get further into the season (great!),” said Creative Director Daze. “We also see that the better the gun and armor, the more likely you are to win a fight. This data is a bit tricky to interpret, as it is muddled, somewhat, by the fact that the better gun you have, the more experienced in the game you are likely to be. But overall, we are getting to a spot where guns perform roughly as we would want them to.”
The team is also working on improving the game’s anti-cheat system to make it as hard as possible for cheaters and RMT traders to prosper. They’re also looking for ways to ensure that legitimate players aren’t penalized too severely for dying to cheaters, which is extremely important in a game where you could lose all your hard-earned gear in a single match.
Executive Producer Jonathan Lindsay talks about anti-cheating measures in the short dev update video below.
