Bluehole Studio, the developer behind TERA, has joined forces with PLAYERUNKNOWN, creator of the Battle Royale mod for Arma 3 and H1Z1, to create a new game: Battlegrounds. The PvP game just finished its first pre-alpha test, according to MMOCulture.

600 players turned out to merk each other during the test and provided positive feedback—at least according to what was shared by service manager Hyowon Yoo.  Another test will be conducted in about a month, and will be announced through the game's dev blog and on Twitter.

Battlegrounds is built using Unreal Engine 4, and is seeking to innovate the Battle Royale genre, pitting 64 players against each other on an island where only one player survives. They'll use weapons, vehicles, and supplies to survive and engage in tactical battles.

Normally I wouldn't be excited for another survival, winner-takes-all contest. But because PLAYERUNKNOWN is working on the project I'm curious to test it out.
