Team Fortress 2 Has Been Rendered ‘Literally Unplayable’ By Bots

Here a bot, there a bot, everywhere a bot. A fitting rendition for Team Fortress 2 players who have been dealing with the problem for years now while Valve remains silent about the matter. Recent reports paint a picture of a game that is literally unplayable in the truest sense of the word.

Players who recently tried to return to the game, including streamer SquidJim and IGN writers, found themselves being repeatedly spawn sniped by sniper bots, toxic and racist messages being spammed on chat, link spamming, loud music playing over voice comms, and bots replicating player names in the match and attempting to vote kick the original player so more bots can join the match.

There have also been reports of bots designed to cause the game to significantly lag or cause the game to crash when they’re kicked.

There have been speculation that the army of bots that have descended on the popular first-person shooter may have something to do with a revenge scheme of sorts, a way to force players into rogue servers, or as a way of calling the attention of Valve as updates become fewer and far between. Botters may also be trying to unlock cosmetic items which they can sell for real-world money.

Whatever the reason, what’s obvious is that bots have ruined the game for legitimate players with no response without a single response from Valve. That being said, the game still has a large following with over 67,000 players online as of this writing, although there’s really no way of knowing how many of those are bots.
