StarCraft And Expansion Brood War Are Now Available For Free

StarCraft: Remastered is set to launch sometime this summer, but if you can't wait until then or simply want to train for the release of Remastered, you'll be happy to know that the original StarCraft and its expansion Brood War are now available as a free download. The announcement was made last month alongside the announcement that StarCraft: Remastered would be happening. The free download release was expected to happen by the first week of April, but didn't end up happening until yesterday.
StarCraft also received a patch, Patch 1.18, that coincided with the release of the free download version of the game. The first patch to be released for the game in almost eight years, it includes the following key features.
- Improved compatibility with modern systems.
- Windowed fullscreen and windowed modes.
- Increased turn rate in Battle.net matches.
- "Observer mode," which I presume is a spectator mode.
- Improved anticheat.
- UPnP support.
You can find the full set of patch notes here.
I've played a lot of StarCraft over the years, but I've always been fairly bad at it. Perhaps I'll play again using the new free version of the game. Are any of you planning to play the game again now or are you waiting for StarCraft: Remastered to be released instead?
