Square Enix Quarterly Profit Increases Thanks to Stormblood and Mobile Games

Square Enix reported quarterly earnings today and reported a big bump in MMO revenue thanks to the successful launch of Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood. MMO revenue jumped from $53.3M to $84M in the April to June quarter:

More impressively though is the continued strength of Square Enix's mobile games. Smart device and browser game revenue was $214M in the quarter which is more than all MMO revenue ($84M) + all console / traditional game sales ($100M). Mobile is clearly the most important segment for Square Enix as it consistently brings in huge revenues:

The most recent mobile launch was SINoALICE, which is a fantasy RPG based on classic fairy tales (currently only available in Japan).

Profit for Square Enix rose to $75M USD for the quarter, up from $48M during the same quarter last year. As a Square Enix shareholder, i'm certainly a happy camper to see the company continue to perform well.
