Nintendo dumped a boatload of info on its upcoming team-based shooter Splatoon 3 during its Nintendo Direct Showcase earlier this week. These include the available multiplayer and single-player game modes as well as the announcement of a playable demo launching next week.

Players can expect the return of the classic 4v4 Turf War with several new maps added to the existing rotation. They’ll also be able to take on other teams in Anarchy Battle ranked matches and team up in the co-op Salmon Run against various bosses and waves of enemies. Splatoon 3 will also bring back Splatfests with a new twist. Instead of picking from two sides, players will get to choose from three: Team Rock, Team Paper, and Team Scissors. They’ll then battle it out in a three-way 4v2v2 match dubbed the Tricolor Turf War.

Nintendo will be releasing a playable demo of the new Splatfest game mode on the Nintendo Switch for free on August 25th, giving fans a chance to get some playtime in before the three-way Splatfest event kicks off on August 27th. The event will run from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. PDT while the demo can be downloaded starting on August 18th.

The studio also talked up the game’s single-player mode, new paint-firing weapons, and the in-game Splatlands 1v1 card game. Additional weapons, season catalogs, and higher-tier ranked battle modes called League Battle and X Battle will be added through post-launch updates.

Splatoon 3 is scheduled to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on September 9th. In the meantime, you can check out all of the new info on the official site and the game’s full Nintendo Direct presentation right down below.
