Spellsouls: Duel of Legends is a brand new mobile title that's trying to combine MOBA combat and deck building. Developer Nordeus calls their game a "quick-card-based-mobile-MOBA," (QCMM?), where players choose a spellcaster hero and face other players in 1v1 battles.

On a top-down battlefield players spawn minions in two lanes to attack their opponents, bolstering their troops with spell cards, using AOE spells to thwart their enemy's march, and tactically choosing which minions to summon for maximum effect. Battles only last three minutes for quick pick-up-and-play gameplay.

Spellsouls has soft launched on iOS in a few countries: New Zealend, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Australia, Croatia, and Canada. But you can pre-register to play by visiting the Spellsouls website.

Nordeus plans to release Spellsouls: Duel of Legends sometime in 2017. It's an interesting concept and I'm curious to see how it's received.
