Space Economy Sim Prosperous Universe Officially Launches On April 20

It’s been a long and winding journey for Prosperous Universe but after over five years in development, the indie sci-fi sandbox MMORPG is finally on its way to official launch.
Over the course of its development, the space economy simulator plodded along through alpha testing, launched into early access, went free-to-play, and then returned to a subscription-based model which was followed by another early access launch. Now it seems that developer Simulogics is finally ready to make the transition to full release on April 20th.
“After a lot of careful planning and developing, Prosperous Universe is finally making its way to Steam,” announced the team. “We know a lot of you long-time fans might not find this so exciting, but this launch is crucial to the future and sustainability of the game. We ask for your unwavering support as you have always given.”
“If all goes according to plan, there will be an influx of new players from the Steam launch,” they added. “Please welcome them as you always have and show them what a wonderful community we have here and what makes our game so special!”
In preparation for launch day, the team is currently all hands on deck to fix performance problems caused by the ever-growing number of player-made entities within the game (planets, stations, companies, commodity exchanges, users, …). The team hopes to fix this by implementing snapshotting for entities. Instead of keeping track of all the events for a particular entity, the database now stores a snapshot of a certain number of events to significantly reduce loading times. The new system has been deployed for several entities as of yesterday.
Details can be found on the Prosperous Universe official site.
