Shroud Of The Avatar Announces Release Date, Makes Free Trial Permanent

After four long years in development & early access, fantasy sandbox MMORPG Shroud of the Avatar is (almost) ready for prime time! In a lengthy forum post, executive producer Starr Long laid out SoTA's early 2018 schedule. The most important piece of news from the post was regarding Release 52, scheduled for March 27, 2018. This Release will serve as the official "Launch Candidate" version, and it will mark Shroud of the Avatar's official transition from Early Access to Release.

We're only on Release 49 which went live just last week, but prospective players need not wait until March to give the game a try. Among the changes introduced in Release 49 were tweaks to the on again, off again free trial. Starting December 20th, Free Trial players will only be able to advance each skill to level 50 (no cap previously), but the free trial will now be a permanent part of the game. In a way, this places SotA in the same category as RuneScape, which also offers an unlimited free trial with a cap on skill progression.
The full 2018 schedule, and even the Release 49 notes are well worth reading for those interested in the project. 2018 looks like it will be the year many of the first wave of crowdfunded MMORPGs finally see release!
