Sea of Thieves Has Sold 2 Million Copies Since Launch

Rare Ltd has announced that their latest multiplayer swashbucking title Sea of Thieves has sold over 2 million copies since its March 20, 2018 release.
These result were enough to make Sea of Thieves the best selling first-party title from Microsoft this generation. The 2 million sales number include both Xbox One and PC versions, but does not include players who accessed the game through Microsoft's gamepass service.
Rare included a few other stats in their announcement -- 500,000 new Xbox Live friendships have been forged in Sea of Thieves, 100,000 players have streamed the game, and over 10 million hours of streamed content has been viewed by players a cross the world.
While Sea of Thieves has enjoyed initial success, Rare and Microsoft still have a long road ahead. Many users have found the game severely lacking in content, especially for a $60 game. Some have even called Sea of Thieves a 'stealth' Early Access title since its so sparse on content. Time will tell whether Sea of Thieves manages to stay afloat or sink down to Davy Jones' Locker.
